2nd seed Novak Djokovic (SRB) got over an early lapse in concentration to beat Ernests Gulbis (LAT) in straight sets 6-4 6-1 7-6. At the beginning of the match Djokovic felt aggrieved after being denied a challenge by the chair, and the very next point he needed the challenge again, this time getting it, and it going his way. He remonstrated with the chair umpire about line calls and challenges, ironically telling the umpire to “focus” before losing all focus himself, dropping his serve immediately after. The 5th Day at Wimbledon 2017 Gentlemen’s Singles Draw

Number 1 seed Andy Murray (GBR) faced 28th seed Fabio Fognini (ITA), both of whom are known to have the occasional outburst on court. Murray raced to a 1 set lead 6-2 only for the momentum to swing the Italian’s way in the second, taking it 6-4. The 3rd Day at Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles Draw

In the day’s controversial match, Next Gen star Daniil Medvedev (RUS) who knocked out 5th seed Wawrinka in the first round, lost his cool in a tense 5 set contest on the non-Hawk-Eye outer courts. His opponent, world number 124 Ruben Bemelmans (BEL), was the benefactor of 5 chair umpire overrules in quick succession, leaving Medvedev questioning the integrity of the chair and calling for her replacement.
