Carlos Moya on Nadal’s Success

Carlos Moya has revealed the secrets behind Nadal’s recent improvements and comeback from injury.

Forehand has been adapted to “get more speed through the court”.  Work on improvements in the Nadal backhand has been fairly evident as he takes more outside in backhands over inside out forehands.  And “a lot of work on the serve”.

Nadal is also carrying more lead tape in the head of the racquet giving much increased power potential.  Additionally, nutrition and dietary changes have been made to build even more muscle to help in reducing injuries.

The 3rd Day at Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles Draw

In the day’s controversial match, Next Gen star Daniil Medvedev (RUS) who knocked out 5th seed Wawrinka in the first round, lost his cool in a tense 5 set contest on the non-Hawk-Eye outer courts. His opponent, world number 124 Ruben Bemelmans (BEL), was the benefactor of 5 chair umpire overrules in quick succession, leaving Medvedev questioning the integrity of the chair and calling for her replacement. The 3rd Day at Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles Draw

In the match of the day, 6th seed Johanna Konta (GBR) faced Donna Vekic (CRO) who beat her to the Nottingham Aegon Championship just 2 weeks previous. In a thrilling first set, Vekic broke Konta late in the set but Konta broke straight back forcing the pair into a tie-break, which Konta won 7-4. The effort of winning the first set showed as Konta served first in the second set and was immediately broken. Vekic maintained the break to the end of the high quality second set, taking it 6-4.
